The dominating historical theme in Ireland's North West this year the 400th anniversary of the Flight of the Earls from Donegal in 1607. In the intervening years since the Flight of the Earls, many Irish families emigrated to wine producing countries where they developed vineyard that produce wines that can rank with the best.
We decided this year to commemorate the Flight of the Earls at Heron's Cove by including in our wine list a 'Wild Geese' selection of wines produced by families with Irish roots.
